Attila Meszlényi: Etiquette of the End of the World
Survival Manual
It is a disconcerting book that may cause outcry. It formulates the rules of
appropriate way of life from existential (‘environmental’) point of view in
the fields of production, consumption, trade, everyday life, entertainment
and culture in general by means of propriety relevant for everyone. Its
conclusions are equally valid. They are conceivable and acceptable by anyone
still we are against them because they would fundamentally change our lives,
our ingrained habits we are insisting on, although they are harmful for us.
Book for everyone. It is understandable to everyone from the well-educated
intellectuals till the low educated social classes. It collects those new
habits corresponding to existential viewpoints that already work in practice
here and there; and offers solution to put temporarily in theory accepted
principles into practice. We have long realized the great importance of
existential viewpoints in theory, on the level of international control as
well as in public thinking, but in vain, theory remains theory, and
everything goes on in the same way.
It is a book of practical breakthrough. Practice, practice and practice.
Theoretical issues are needed to help the long accepted theory to become
practical. That is the reason why it discusses those psychic processes as
the conditions and obstacles of the changing approach and informs us about
the general methods of putting principles into practice. It shows us how to
argue about the most popular dangerous views and how to realize acts by the
help of which we try to wriggle out of our unpleasant duties and our
responsibility repressing our conscience.
In the brief and simple language of theoretical part the book almost
unnoticed outlines the image of a new existential culture and the program of
evolution.
The book helps us realise that we cannot blame others for our problems, our
own lifestyle is responsible for all the troubles, and only we can change it,
independently from our situation, qualification, profession. Right now,
today. There is no need to wait.
